In September last year, a nine month old Mini Foxy X Chihuahua named Bailey was surrendered to one of our lovely vet nurses here at MyVet Springfield Lakes.
Bailey was in desperate need of a Femoral Head Osteotomy, this surgical procedure involves removing the head and neck of the femur. In simpler terms, it is the removal of the ball part of the ball and socket that makes up the hip joint. At some point in Bailey’s life, he had damaged the femoral head so that the blood supply had been cut off causing the femoral head to begin disintegrating. After being surrendered to Jessica, our amazing orthopaedic surgeon Dr Geoff Wilson came straight down to operate and remove what was left of the femoral head to relieve poor Bailey of his pain.
It has been a long recovery but Bailey is now pain free and running amuck with his best friends and siblings, Jeffery and Beauty. The trio of fur babies are inseparable and enjoy a trip to the beach almost every weekend and a daily run of the soccer fields after work. What a life!
