Meet Our Team
Dr Sylvia Rivero
Lead Vet
  • BVSc

Sylvia has always had a passion for animals and from an early age dreamed of being a vet. Despite originally wanting to be a zoo vet, she soon found her passion was in companion animals and treating people's fur babies. Since graduating with honours from The University of QLD in 2012, Sylvia has been working in small animal clinics in the Ipswich area, and as a local, is excited to have recently joined the MyVet Springfield Lakes Team where she can't wait to meet the community and their pets. Sylvia enjoys all aspects of general practice, but in particular likes internal medicine.

At home, Sylvia lives with her fiance David and their rescue fur kids: 3 cats called Freddie, Oliver and Jessica, and a cheeky Wolfhound X called Finnegan, who on the weekends is also their fellow coffee, camping and beach buddy.

Dr Dion Woodborne
Orthopaedic & Soft Tissue Surgeon
  • BVSc
  • MANZCVS (Surgery)

Being born and raised in South Africa, Dion had the kind of introduction into a career in the care of animals that Australian trained vets only get to dream about. As a school leaver, Dion studied Nature Conservation, and worked for 3 years for the Natal Parks Board as a ranger, working amongst the amazing wildlife of Africa on land and at sea. Dion’s exciting experiences include getting up close and personal with Great White Sharks and Seals off the South African Coast, whilst participating in the tagging and monitoring of these magnificent creatures.

Dion completed his Veterinary degree and went on to work in large and small animal practices in South Africa, the UK, and NZ before settling on the Sunshine Coast with his young family.  Their home is a menagerie of creatures, with birds and dogs, and a blue tongue lizard, which Dion and his daughters reared after rescuing it from a roadside as an injured baby. Dion is an avid water sportsman; he has solo swum the English Channel and is now a keen kite boarder.

Dion is passionate about surgery, and in 2011, after rigorous written and oral examinations, he gained his Membership to the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons, in Small Animal Surgery.

Dr Megan Sorensen

Growing up in Ipswich, Megan dreamt from the age of 6 that she wanted to become a Vet. Megan always had a passion for small animals which stemmed from her family’s menagerie of animals and continued to grow by fostering and assisting with local rescue groups. After pursuing her dream Megan graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary science, honours in 2018, before joining our team in 2019.

Outside of work Megan is ‘fur-mum’ to a beautiful, bouncy Weimaraner, Saxon and German shorthaired pointer, Willow. During her spare time, she enjoys going on adventures with Saxon & Willow, travelling and playing Inline Hockey.  She has a particular passion for surgery and is excited to meet all the lovely clients, pooches and felines of Springfield lakes and surrounding areas.

Practice Manager

Ann is a New Zealander. She commenced her nursing career in 2004 in Wellington and immigrated to Australia in 2007. Ann has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2014.

Ann is married to fellow ‘Kiwi’ Lance and together have a daughter named Casey. Her English Cocker Spaniel, Chase is a lovable character, enjoys a puppicino with his mum at the local cafe. The furry felines of the house are not without their troubles. Leonidas the Birman and Suu-kyi the Burmese are particularly fond of ingesting any clothing they can get their little paws on.

Vet Nurse

Amie began veterinary nursing in 2001 and obtained her Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing in 2004. She has worked locally ever since and was lucky enough to join the MyVet team in 2020. Amie shares her time between MyVet and working in the emergency department at a specialist referral hospital and finds both equally rewarding. She loves all aspects of her job as she feels she is always learning, and she especially loves caring for our feline patients.
Amie lives locally with her husband and their two cheeky and much loved cats.

Vet Nurse

Jordy is one of our nurses here at MyVet who has a strong passion to care for the patients she sees each day.

Jordy has recently graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Veterinary Technology which has allowed her to learn and develop many skills in the veterinary industry.

Her fur-family includes two non-working Kelpies, Blake and Rip, as well as a feathered family member, Frankie-Lyn the cockatiel.
Outside of the clinic, Jordy is a big foodie, enjoying different cuisines and attempting to recreate them herself.

You can catch her on a Sunday morning enjoying brunch at the local Brisbane cafe
